Lilly Software and Existing Partner Loftware, Inc. to Deliver RFID Capabilities to VISUAL Enterprise™ Users
Hampton, NH (USA), September 21, 2004 — Lilly Software Associates, Inc., a leading provider of enterprise and supply chain solutions for manufacturers and distributors, today announced, with its partner Loftware, Inc., a leading provider of global marking solutions based in York, Maine, it will deliver its customers the RFID capabilities required to comply with the pending mandate concerning Electronic Product Code (EPC). To further build on its partnership and offerings, Lilly has integrated Loftware’s newly released Premier Plus RFID product with VISUAL Enterprise to create the first fully scalable, enterprise-class solution for creating Smart Labels.
The recent announcement regarding Wal-Mart’s plan to implement an RFID-based pallet- and case-level tracking system, with its top 100 suppliers required to comply by January 2005 and all suppliers by 2006, has resulted in efforts to standardize the global specifications for RFID tags. Of primary concern for most companies are the anticipated cost and resource requirements an RFID implementation will demand.
“While the EPC mandates are creating quite a stir among suppliers of major retailers, we’re happy to report that our VISUAL Enterprise customers can readily meet the new requirements with the help of Loftware’s Premier Plus RFID,” said David Bennett, Vice President, Product Management, Lilly Software. “Unlike
many in industry, VISUAL users across all industries can easily extend their current software investment to meet the new requirements.”
VISUAL Enterprise is a comprehensive end-to-end solution focused on helping companies respond to the increasingly difficult demands of their customers, affording them the ability to differentiate themselves by providing a superior customer experience. As is the case with its WMS solution, LSA’s VISUAL DCMS® fully integrates with VISUAL Enterprise and allows customers to choose between paper-based and RF implementations. Loftware’s solutions follow that same model, allowing customers to create labels that include barcode, RFID, and human readable formats. When business requirements dictate, customers can implement the VISUAL and Loftware systems with confidence, knowing they can extend their investment to include RFID requirements by EPC, Wal-Mart, DoD, Target and others.
“Loftware’s technology is a major component of VISUAL Enterprise’s functionality in terms of shipping and distribution for our customers,” said Bennett. “Our partnership with this dynamic company is further proof of Lilly’s commitment to provide our customers with the tools and technology they need for success.”
