Lilly Software Expands its Product Suite with
VISUAL Enterprise for Repetitive Manufacturers
14 October 2003, Hampton, NH (USA) — Lilly Software Associates proudly announces the development of VISUAL Enterprise™ for Repetitive Manufacturers, a solution dedicated to helping manufacturers successfully incorporate Lean Manufacturing practices into their businesses. Companies that manufacture products in industries such as automotive, electronic component assembly, and consumer packaged goods use Lean Manufacturing to save time and money and to distinguish themselves from competing suppliers. VISUAL Enterprise for Repetitive Manufacturers will help companies reduce lead times and inventory and eliminate wasteful procedures in their operations.
VISUAL Enterprise for Repetitive Manufacturers is a pull-based system that allows production to respond to customer demand quickly and accurately through the use of electronic kanban cards and work cell displays. It promotes Lean with features for improving responsiveness to customers and suppliers, reducing and balancing inventory levels, minimizing inventory transactions, lowering costs, and ensuring product quality. The system includes tools for companies to synchronize and control the flow of materials throughout the plant floor, design products in engineering, plan production schedules, execute production, and handle multiple deliveries per day to customers or from suppliers.
“There is a critical industry need for a repetitive manufacturing solution that can accurately track operations on the production floor without burdening users with feeding the traditional ERP work order-based application,” says Scott Rich, Lilly Software’s Vice President, Marketing. “We are focused on delivering the highest performance to our users. This system uses the revolutionary full-color graphical interface found in VISUAL Enterprise to represent kanban cards for production reporting. It also offers
communications from the shop floor in work cell messaging and visual queues using a completely configurable user interface. Lean Manufacturing delivers results; the right software can dramatically affect the transition to Lean. Lilly Software wants to help its customers successfully integrate these techniques into their business processes.”
Built using the Microsoft® .NET Framework, VISUAL Enterprise for Repetitive Manufacturers is another integrated product emerging from Lilly Software’s busy development team. It follows the impressive releases of VISUAL Financials® Global Edition, an advanced multi-entity accounting solution, and VISUAL Mobile™, a wireless communication tool that allows users to access data in VISUAL Enterprise™ using handheld PCs. The .NET Framework offers a unified development environment and the ability to enable Web Services and rich client-based and device-based user interfaces.
“We designed this system so that the functionality is direct and powerful,” says Rich. “This solution targets what repetitive manufacturers really need: a system that balances the dictates of Lean by reducing waste while providing the benefits of an integrated ERP system.”
Currently in beta testing, VISUAL Enterprise for Repetitive Manufacturers is slated for release early
