Services Plus Selects Lilly Software’s End-to-End Solution


10 September 2003, Hampton, NH (USA) —Services Plus, with headquarters in Green Bay, Wisconsin, is a 250 employee, privately-held company that provides manufacturing and packaging services in conjunction with warehousing and shipping services to an impressive list of the world’s top consumer goods manufacturers and retailers. “We have a unique distribution center approach that emulates the distribution activities of our key customers,” explains Tom Schumacher, vice president and co-owner of Services Plus. “We make it look like the products have shipped from our customer’s own facility through compliance labeling and order customization.”


Services Plus has grown considerably – doubling sales in the last 4 years – and expects that growth to continue. “Our existing systems, a collection of loosely coupled homegrown and custom systems, are being challenged by this growth,” Schumacher adds. “And that ‘loose’ integration is becoming more of a challenge as we grow.” That was the primary motivation for seeking out a comprehensive packaged solution that will help the company more effectively serve its customers and support future expansion. “We see VISUAL Enterprise as the platform to do that,” he says.


An extensive search led Schumacher’s team to the conclusion that VISUAL offered the full range of capabilities and the tight integration that was needed. “We looked at other packages and found that they either had good manufacturing functionality with a bolted-on warehouse system or they were strong on the warehouse side but had bolted-on manufacturing. VISUAL has strong offerings on both sides and good integration,” according to Schumacher.


Services Plus recently completed the conference-room pilot phase of implementation and plans to ‘go live’ by the end of the year. “We are looking forward to getting VISUAL in place,” says Schumacher. “Our biggest initial gains will be in the management and operation of our nearly 1 million square feet of warehousing and distribution facilities. Once the system is in place and working, we will be looking to the ‘Lean’ aspects of the software to improve our packaging and manufacturing operations.”
