Richard T. Lilly and Eli Goldratt to Host Executive Seminars on TOC/DBR
15 April 2003, Hampton, NH (USA) — Lilly Software Associates, a leader in enterprise and supply chain management applications for manufacturers and distributors, announces upcoming seminars in May for both customers and new prospects on the results-driven Theory of Constraints (TOC) management philosophy and Drum-Buffer-Rope (DBR) scheduling practices. These half-day executive seminars entitled, “Changing the Process to Gain a Competitive Edge,” include presentations by Richard T. Lilly, CEO of Lilly Software, and Dr. Eliyahu Goldratt, developer of the Theory of Constraints and author of The Goal. Attendees will learn how companies in the industrial sector can combine strategy and software to manage business constraints and deliver bottom-line benefits.
During the four-hour breakfast and luncheon presentations, Goldratt will discuss the role technology innovation plays in improving manufacturing and supply chain productivity and highlight what is necessary and sufficient to achieve fast results. He will talk about the importance of changing business rules and replacing operational measurements in order to get the maximum benefit from technology and provide an overview about TOC and DBR scheduling. Lilly will complement Goldratt’s presentation by discussing VISUAL® solutions and the Throughput Improvement Primer (TIP), a program that helps companies rapidly realize the value of implementing TOC/DBR management techniques, while minimizing the cost of the initial investment.
Companies that use TOC and DBR find improvements in production flow, resource utilization, on-time delivery, and customer satisfaction. Lilly Software customers, such as Anderson Technologies, that have gone through the TIP program have noted significant results. Tom Weber, Chief Financial Officer at Anderson Technologies explains: “After attending TIP training, our management team was invigorated. We realized our biggest constraint was the market and that we needed to go after customers and present them with ‘unrefusable offers.’ In fact, we’re putting together a program for a major customer right now that will allow us to significantly expand our business…without greatly increasing our operating expenses. TIP training allowed us to synthesize a successful strategy and provided the direction we needed.”
Lilly Software believes in the importance of management commitment to drive successful implementations. It is hosting the TOC seminars to help more companies understand the advantages of a solution backed by a proven business methodology.
“Most businesses realize that to gain the highest value from their enterprise system implementations, they need to take a fresh approach to their operating practices,” explains Scott Rich, Vice President, Marketing, Lilly Software. “Companies need to clearly define their goals, develop effective techniques for change, and measure their progress with realistic metrics. They need to ensure that their commitment to the new system is driven from top management, including the CEO of the company. Our seminars are designed to help companies recognize the benefits of investing in a long term solution with a vendor who believes in their ability to continuously improve.”
Lilly Software has seminars scheduled for May 13th in Los Angeles, California; May 15th in Chicago, Illinois; and May 22nd in Mahwah, New Jersey. For more information, please visit www.lillysoftware.com/seminars/
